Fenton sends six to the D2 Regional

Tigers Lose: -
Fenton hosted one of the Division two Districts on Saturday and six Tigers placed in the top four to advance in the post season which takes place next Saturday at Freemont High School. Ben Triola placed 2nd at 171 pounds defeating Tyler Dewley of Owosso 10-2 then Michael Bush of Linden in the semi final match 4-3. In the final Triola lost by fall to Goodrich's Cameron Macklem. Garrett Clark (130) placed 3rd going 4-1 on the day. In the first round Clark defeated Brad Hensley (Brandon) by fall then Connor Babel (Marysville) by fall. In the semi final Clark was defeated by Ty Johnson (Lake Fenton). Clark wrestled back by defeating Wes Schultz (St. Johns) by fall. In the 3rd place match Clark avenged a loss he had last Wednesday night defeating Holly's Sean Murray by fall. Philip Lamka (152) also took 3rd. Lamka defeated Jason Steven (St. Johns) by fall. In the semi final Lamka was defeated 6-4 by Jack Conley (Lake Fenton). Lamka then wrestled back defeating highly ranked Kyle Ferrier (Marysville) 13-6. In the 3rd place match Lamka defeated Max Macklem (Goodrich) 13-4. Carson Krzeszak (285) also took 3rd. In the quarter final match Krzeszak defeated Chris Ott (Owosso) 1-0. In the semi final Krzeszak was defeated by Gavin Leigh (Brandon). Krzeszak wrestled back pinning Gary Wall (Holly) and then pinning Autin Luther (Swartz Creek) in the 3rd place match. Kyle Dunfield (160) placed 4th defeating Owen Zettle (Lake Fenton) by fall. In the quarter final Dunfield defeated Hunter Hummel (Holly) 9-6. Dunfield was then defeated by Jacob Gonzales (Holly). Dunfield defeated Warren Westfall (St. Clair) 12-3. In the 3rd place match Dunfield was defeated by Jake Difalco (Brandon) by fall. Evan Firby (215) placed 4th as well. Firby defeated Isaac Wing (Brandon) by fall. Firby then lost by fall in the semi final to Pontiac's Teveion Ethchan. Firby wrestled back pinning St Clair's Stephon Neimon. In the 3rd place match Firby was defeated by St. John's Ryan Dimmick 5-2.

Saturday the Tigers were in Owosso for the Flint Area Metro League Individual Tournament. Five Tigers placed 4th or better. Philip Lamka caputered a league title at 152 pounds. Lamka won his 2nd round match by technical fall. In the Semi Final Lamka wrestled Xavier Anderson from Corunna defeating him 8-5. In the championship -Lamka defeated state runner up Jack Conley from Lake Fenton by Fall. Lamka is now 37-2 on the year. At 171 pounds Ben Triola defeated 2nd seeded Decklan Davis 7-1 In the semi final Triola avenged a recent loss defeated Michael Bush of Linden by fall. In the Final Triola was defeated by Cam Macklem of Goodrich. Kyle Dunfield, Evan Firby, and Carson Krzeszak all went 2-2 placing 4th earning honorable mention all league honors. In the Jv tournament Chris Dobek and Carter Harris took 2nd in the JV tournement while Jaden Harper took 3rd. Fenton is at home Wednesday for Team Districts and host the Individual District Saturday.

Fenton competed in two locations on Saturday. The Varsity traveled to Hartland while six JV wrestlers competed at the annual Fenton JV tournament. Philip Lamka (152) continued his successful season winning the Hartland Invitational making it Lamka's 4th invitational championship this season. Lamka defeated Lucas Carr (Linden) 20-2, Nick Dimitroff (Hartland), and Kyle Ferrier (Marysville) by fall in the championship. Kyle Dunfield had a good day placing 3rd at 160 pounds. Dunfield defeated Will Darish (Hartland) 10-1, lost 9-6 in the semi-finals to Trent Willoughby (South Lyon), and won 16-2 in the 3rd place match vs. Lucas Rogers (Lakeland). Evan Firby (215) also took 3rd defeating Will Long (Walled Lake Northern) by fall. FIrby then dropped a 1-0 decision to Jacob Pretzel(Hartland) and then won the 3rd place match 6-1 vs Wyatt Lesnew (Milford). Carson Krzeszak (285) also took 3rd defeating Jarel Reid (Ann Arbor Skyline) by fall. Krzeszak lost 9-1 in the semi-finals then won 14-12 in the 3rd place match over Kyle Scofield (Milford). Owen Freeman (119) placed 4th, Ben Triola (171) placed 5th, and Garrett Clark (125) placed 6th. The Tigers as a team placed 6th out of 16 teams.
At the Fenton JV Invite Chris Dobek went 3-0 winning his division. Placing 2nd with 2-1 records were Keagan Crandall and Carter Harris. Jaden Harper placed 3rd in his division.
Fenton travels to Owosso to wrestle Flushing and Corunna on Wednesday. On Saturday the TIgers again travel to Owosso for the FLint Metro League meet.

Tigers Lose: -
Saturday the Tigers hosted eight teams and finished 4th posting a 2-3 record. Four of the five duals came down to one match. Fenton started off 1-0 defeating Petoskey 41-39. Fenton was able to win four of the seven matches wrestled giving them the edge. All four of those wins Fenton received bonus points which were critical. Garrett Clark, Philip Lamka, and Carson Krzeszak won by fall and Kyle Dunfield one by technical fall. Keagan Crandall, Ben Triola, Jamal Horne received forfeits.
In the 2nd dual the Tigers remained on top defeating Midland Dow 47-30. Garrett Clark, Philip Lamka, and Jamal Horne won by fall, Kyle Dunfield won by technical fall. Owen Freeman, Chris Dobek, Carson Krzeszak, and Keagan Crandall received forfeits.
In the 3rd dual the Tigers wrestled well but could not defeat South Lyon falling 41-35. The dual started with a bang. Garrett Clark was trailing 8th ranked Cam Adams late in the 3rd when he quickly turned the tides winning by fall at the 5:10 mark. Philip Lamka won a very good match over Benny Leece 9-4. Ben Triola, Carson Krzeszak, Jamal Horne won by fall. Owen Freeman won a good 11-6 match and Keagan Crandall finished the dual off with a forfeit.
Fenton posted a 2-1 record heading into the final four gold pool. Farmington was again able to edge Fenton winning 42-41. Fenton was 7-2 in wrestled matches but could not over come the forfiet points given. Philip Lamka, Kyle Dunfield, Ben Triola, Carson Krzeszak, Jamal Horne, Owen Freeman, and Garrett Clark all posted a win.
Fenton dropped the last dual as well 38-33. Jamal Horne, Garrett Clark, Philip Lamka, Kyle Dunfield, BenTriola, and Chris Dobek all posted victories.
Jamal Horne, Garrett Clark, and Philip Lamka posted 5-0 records, Ben Triola was 4-0, Keagan Crandall, Kyle Dunfield, Carson Krzeszak were all 4-1. Owen Freeman was 3-2

Wednesday the Tigers continued league action squeaking past the Bronchos of Holly and defeating Owosso. The night kicked off vs. rival Holly. Carson Krzeszak kicked things off at 285 winning by fall over Gary Wall of Holly. Both teams voided 103. Jamal Horne continued to have success defeating Gabe Soja 10-6 bringing the score to 9-0 Fenton. Owen Freeman dropped a closed one 5-6 at 119. Garrett Clark defeated Andrew Cross by technical fall to increase Fenton's lead to 14-3. Blake Gerow lost by fall at 135 to Anthony Ayotte closing the gap to 14-9. Fenton voided the next three putting Holly in the lead 14-29. Dylan Beverly won a tight 11-9 decision over Holly's Hunter Hummel. The premier match of the night was Philip Lamka vs. Jacob Gonzales of Holly. Lamka ranked 2nd at 152 and Gonzales 1st at 160. Gonzales was able to win a very good match 4-0. Kyle Dunfield and Jaden Harper both took forfeits. The final match of the dual was Evan Firby vs. Jason VanSickle at 215 pounds. Fenton was down 29-30. Firby continued his hot streak winning by fall giving the Tigers the 35-30 dual win.
The Tigers were able to take care of Owosso winning 9 of the 14 weight classes winning 45-24. Jamal Horne (112), Garrett Clark (125), Dylan Beverly (152), Philip Lamka (160), Evan Firby (215) all went 2-0 on the night. Owen Freeman (119), Keagan Crandall (119), Blake Gerow (130), Kyle Dunfield (171), Jaden Harper (189), Carson Krzeszak all got one win.

Fenton also traveled to Rochester Adams Saturday where six TIgers competed. Philip Lamka (160) captured his 3rd invitational championship this year going 3-0 on the day. Lamka won all three matches by fall defeating Dylan Scott (Waterford Kettering), Max Koscielny (Allen Park), and Nathan Lundgren (Woodhaven) in the championship. Lamka is 23-1 on the year. Garrett Clark (125) went 4-1 falling in the championship 9-2. Clark pinned all of his first four opponents. Evan Firby also went 4-1. Firby won by fall in the 3rd place match and his other three wins were by points. Owen Freeman placed 5th going 3-2 on the day. Carson Krzeszak (285) was also 3-2 but placed 7th. Kyle Dunfield was 2-2 on the day at 160 pounds.

Fenton continues to improve and battle and nothing changed Saturday at Wyandotte. Fenton took 2nd out of 12 teams. Philip Lamka (160) continues to dominate his opponents going 4-0 on the day and winning his 2nd invite this year. Lamka ranked 2nd in the state at 152 is now 19-0 on the year. Freshman Owen Freeman (119) also had a very good day placing 2nd with a 4-1 record. Freeman pinned through his first three opponents and won a tight semi final match 5-3 before falling in the championship. Evan Firby also placed 2nd winning by fall in his first match. Firby majored his opponent in the semi final. In the finals Firby lost 10-5. Jamal Horne (112) lost in his first match but battled back to win his next three by fall taking 3rd place. Garrett Clark also lost his first match and then turned around and won his next four to place 3rd. Dylan Beverly (152) won his first two matches going 2-2 placing 4th. Ben Triola (189) also won his first two matches finishing 2-2 placing 4th. Carson Krzeszak (285) won his first match by fall. In the semi final Krzeszak lost by fall. Going into his final match Fenton as a team was in 3rd place right behind Tecumseh who had a half point more. Krzeszak's 3rd place match was the last match of the day and he had to win for Fenton to take 2nd. In a 2-2 match with about ten seconds left Krzeszak tossed his opponent to his back winning 7-2 putting Fenton ahead of Tecumseh by two points in the team standings. Fenton's next competition is at home next Wednesday vs. Holly and Owosso.

The Tigers captured their first two team victory's of the season defeating Swartz Creek 48-30 and Brandon 48-33. Owen Freeman (119), Garrett Clark (125), Dylan Beverly (152), Philip Lamka (160), Kyle Dunfield (171), Ben Triola (189), and Carson Krzezak (285) were all 2-0 on the day. Jamal Horne and Evan Firby both had a win. Carter Harris (285) and Chris Dobek (215) both won a JV match. The Tigers head to Wyandotte for an individual tournament this Saturday.

Fenton took 7 seven wrestlers to the the Joe Lauren Invitational at Chippewa Hills Saturday. Those seven did not disappoint. All contributed to Fenton's 7th place finish out of 23 teams. Leading the Tigers was Philip Lamka at 152 pounds. Lamka dominated his competition posting a 4-0 record winning by fall all four times. Lamka is now 13-0 on the season. Kyle Dunfield placed 3rd at 160 posting a 3-1 record winning by fall twice and posting a 10-5 comeback victory in the 3rd place match. Evan Firby also had a strong day posting a 3-1 record placing 3rd at 215 pounds. Evan won by fall in all of his three wins and is now 9-3 on the year. Dylan Beverly placed 4th at 145 pounds posting a 2-2 record winning by fall and 6-5 in his quarterfinal match. Owen Freeman posted a 2-2 record at 119 pounds placing 6th winning 10-0 and also winning a close one 7-5 to get him into the 5th place match. Also having good days were Jamal Horne (112) and Garrett Clark (125). Both posted 3-1 records on the day but due to the way the tourney was set up could not wrestle back to place. Both did however win three in a row to win the consolation bracket.

Fenton competed at the Romeo Team Tournament where they dropped all five contest. Four of the five with in 10 points. The Tigers continue to battle forfeiting 5-6 weights in all of the duals. The Tigers were lead by Sophomore Captain Philip Lamka who posted a 5-0 record at 160 and 171. Posting 4-1 records were Junior Captain Dylan Beverly (152), Freshman Owen Freeman (119), Junior Kyle Dunfield (160, 171), Junior Evan Firby (215), and Sophomore Carson Krzeszak (285). Sophomore Garrett Clark (125 & 130) went 3-2. Jaden Harper, Cooper Pietsch, and Landon Styes all won an exhibition match. The Tigers kick off league action next Wednesday at home.

On the opening night of the 2021-22 season Fenton took losses to Adrian and Saline. Fenton battled hard but could not overcome the four forfeits they had in the line up. Adrian dropped the Tigers 39-35 leading the entire time. Adrian was up 12-0 after two Fenton forfeits. they battled back with wins from Owen Freeman (119) and Garrett Clark (125) to make the score 12-10. Adrian won the next five matches building their lead to 39-10. Still with a chance to win Fenton clawed their way back with wins from Kyle Dunfield (160), Philip Lamka (171), John Sage (189), Chris Dobek (215), and Carson Krzeszak (285) but came up short in the end.
Saline opened up the dual strong winning 6 of the first 7 matches. Owen Freeman (119) got the only win in the first 7 for Fenton. Dylan Beverly (152), Philip Lamka (160), Kyle Dunfield also captured wins. Fenton dropped the dual 56-21.
