Dear Fenton Parents/Guardians and Student-Athletes (apologies for the length of this email, but please read it fully),

This has been an unusual year that has required compromises from all of us.  Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we navigate through these unprecedented times. It has been inspiring to see all that our coaches and student-athletes have done this past spring season to continue their training and team building.  As we move forward toward re-engaging in our athletic activities we’ll need to continue to remain diligent in our efforts to keep everyone safe.  

Based on Governor Whitmer’s ending of the “Safer-at-Home” order on June 1, the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) has issued guidelines governing how we will resume our summer sports activities.  To ensure we adhere to the current and future specifications, we are requiring all student-athletes in grades 6 - 12 interested in participating in the 2020-21 Fall, Winter, or Spring sports seasons to do the following PRIOR to being able to participate in ANY summer activities: (Note: necessary links mentioned in this email are at the bottom of this email.)

1. Registration: All parents/guardians and student-athletes in grades 6-12 for the 2020-21 school season must register in FinalForms.

   1. If you forgot your password, use the link on the FinalForms login screen to reset your password.

   2. If you do not have a FinalForms account, follow the prompts on FinalForms to create one.

   3. Parents/guardians need to complete/update their forms before the students can complete theirs.

2. Sports: Be sure to check ALL sports you are interested in participating in for the 2020-21 Fall, Winter, and Spring seasons. 

3. Participation Fee: As we have yet to receive final approval to start our 2020 - 2021 athletic seasons, we ask that you do NOT make any participation fee payments at this time. 

4. Physicals: Follow the attached flow chart to help you to determine if you qualify to submit a MHSAA Sports Health Questionnaire OR if you need to submit a new complete physical form.  Due to concerns regarding access to primary care providers during late spring and early summer, the MHSAA has allowed a one-year extension of the 2019 - 2020 physical with the utilization of the Sports Health Questionnaire.

   1. If you qualify to use last year's physical, print and complete the MHSAA Sports Health Questionnaire from FinalForms.  Scan and email the completed form to athletics@fentonschools.org. (You may also mail the form to  FHS, address below.)

If you do not have a current physical on file with the school and/or cannot use the Sports Questionnaire, print the MHSAA Physical Form from FinalForms and make an appointment with a qualified healthcare provider.  Scan and email the completed physical form to: athletics@fentonschools.org.  (You may also mail the form to  FHS, address below.)

**Ensure all required signatures and information are completed to avoid delays in eligibility.

When we restart our summer activities, coaches will be following all of the current COVID-19 recommendations. We will be using FinalForms to ensure our compliance with the guidelines.  If you are planning to participate in any FAPS summer sports activities, please complete your FinalForms registration quickly as only those student-athletes that have completed their registration for 2020-21 sports will be allowed to participate this summer. Thank you for your patience as we work through any upcoming changes or adjustments necessary to help promote a safe return to participation.  Detailed information on startup dates, and requirements to participate in summer training will be available very soon on the Athletic Department COVID-19 resources page.
