Game Date
Apr 22, 2021
Score
TIGERS: 9
WALLED LAKE NORTHERN HIGH SCHOOL: 10

The Heat traveled to face Walled Lake Northern in Girls’ Varsity Lacrosse action on Thursday night. The game was the tale of two halves. The Heat controlled the Draw Circle, 8-1 and led 5-3 in the first half. WLN made more adjustments in the second, controlling 7 of 12 Draws and outscored our Heat, 7-4 in the second. Final score, WLN 10 and Fenton-Linden 9. Junior, Lauren Gangwer saw her first action in net in almost two years and you couldn’t tell as she stopped half of the 20 shots faced (10/20, .500). Defense was led by Kyla Lynch, who made several outstanding plays, intercepting passes, ushering ball carriers away from goal, forcing turnovers and winning ground balls. In the midfield, Daisey Horne won most Ground Ball opportunities and Hannah Ludwig won six Draw Controls.

Offensively the girls showed their unselfishness as they assisted on four of the five goals scored in free play (four more goals were tallied from the 8-meter Free Position).

Scoring Goal/Assist: Kaitlyn Mossett, 3/0; Korryn Smith, 2/1; Daisey Horne, 1/2; Lara Kemp, 2/0; Hannah Ludwig, 1/0; Jordyn Bliss, 0/1

The Heat never gave up the fight this night and had a few chances late to tie up the game, but it wasn’t meant to be. On Friday night, they’ll be looking to return to the Win column when Swartz Creek visits, in Metro League play.
